This a must see place in Madrid in of the corners of the Retiro Park. It is an impressive arch, even though not greatest I have seen. Fairly easy to walk around, traffic is busy around it though.

When young I lived at Calle Alcala and would see this magnificent triumphal arch often on my way to Retiro Park. So you can also. It is one of the oldest post roman arches in Europe including Paris and Berlin. So it is in very...More

I managed to get over to the arch from which you get impressive views towards the Paseo Del Prado. Also the Begonia flower display is lovely.

It was a great experience to walk along Alcala Street from Sol Square til that beautiful place. The best time to get the optime photo is after 6:00 pm when the suns sets and the solar lights fall covering it all.

A set of ceremonial arches and a lovely plaza adjacent to Retiro park. Well worth a visit if you are nearby-I enjoyed it more than the Puerta del Sol or Plaza Mayor. Just be aware that it's full of traffic!

The stone arches are very nice. I walked over and saw them once but it seemed like every taxi ride went past them again. Very nice. Worth a look.

The Puerta de Alcala is one of the most beautiful squares in Madrid because the architecture of the gate is very good. There is always plenty of traffic in this square so it may be difficult to take a photo without the traffic.

Puerta Alkala is near Retiro park. It is on a walking distance from Puerta del sol. Beautiful, especially by night.

Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights
