The Bear Statue Plaza Puerta del Sol s/n, 28013 Madrid, Spain
Great tour, especially if you're new to eating tapas and going to the tapas places. The first tapas and drinks were part of the tour costs, but we were given the opportunity to give an extra 20 euros each to cover the costs of all...More
Great tapas tour with Charlie. 3 Swedes, 2 Brits and 4 Americans joined Charlie for a great tour to 4 stops with wonderful food and beverages. Can't say enough about how great the food and drinks were; learned much about Madrid history and made some...More
Charles was our guide. He took us to 4 awesome Tapas places in Madrid. He is very knowledgeable and made the tour very entertaining. He also recommended other food places which were excellent choices. Highly recommend this tour.
I did 3 tapas tours while in Madrid. This was the last one.
This tour is cheaper than all the rest as you only get first bars drinks and tapas included. You pay for the rest. This has its plusses in that you (as a...More
We decided to book this tour for our first night in Spain, and it was a great way to kick off our trip! James offered tons of information, and the group laughed throughout the night. Great flavors, great food, great company. Learned a lot about...More
We had done an enjoyable food tour in Italy and decided to give it a try, so happy we did! Friends joined us and they were equally pleased. We met, James talked (not too much), we walked, we ate, we drank and it was all...More

Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as
desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.

I remember my fitbit that day being over 5 miles and I maybe walked 2 outside of the tour. That being said, I walked from my hotel to the meeting point. Your parents could taxi to the meeting point and taxi back to the hotel. That still would probably make it a good 2 miles of leisurely walking. I hope that helps.
The longest walk we had from one venue to another was a little over 10 mins. The rest were approx 5 mins max. At the end of the night we finished at a location and James was very happy to help with taxis so not problem... More
