Coming by to the end of a month-long road trip around Spain and Portugal my 40 year old memories of the tapas culture were pretty much in tatters. I’d order a small glass of beer (for about 20p) and get a small plate of something tasty free with it. Obviously times have changed and nobody can afford to do this now. The structure has changed but the spirit of the thing is alive and extremely robust In Logroño. We he ad a hotel very close to this area and the sheer busy-ness of the place gives you a real buzz. The quality of the food and wine is truly unbelievable for the prices charged. Plus, you have the sensation of being exactly where the cool locals go. I can’t recommend this area enough. If you don’t like it, check your pulse. Seriously.

Great fun - don't be intimidated - just get in there and order something. Make sure you ask for a Crianza wine and not just a "vino tinto"

Fun night out. Nice wine and tapas. Not many vegetarian options so beware if that is your lifestyle.

Had a blast pinchos hopping bar to bar on Saturday night. Like a family-friendly version of Bourbon Street. Food was amazing and everyone friendly. A must do.

We stayed in Logrono for 3 nights as we wanted to tour the Rioja. For the evenings, we decided to dine at or near Calle Del Laurel. We were spoilt for choice, there were bars, restaurants and bars cum restaurants galore! Some were meat specialists, some seafood, some vegetarian and there is nothing you cannot find. It was crowded, rowdy and fun

Most of the places open from 8 pm onwards and at 9 pm, the place teems with patrons. The food by and large was delicious and priced reasonably . My favourite is a piece of foie gras between 2 toasty pieces of baguette. That plus a glass of wine or beer was most satisfying. Needless to say wine and beer flowed the whole evening and it is about the best way to spend an evening in the Rioja

Lots of varied tapas, generally for a reasonable price. Some of the bars are very small and you may have to eat outside, even if the temperature is freezing. It can be very noisy on busy nights. Great friendly atmosphere.

Ah, the food! So good; so many different choices. Wonderful!
Ah, the street itself! So narrow; so noisy; so colorful! Wonderful

Ah, the crowd! Too much! Everyone has their own limit, and this was beyond mine. It was hard to move, which didn't seem like fun. People seemed oblivious to other people (too much beer?), which definitely wasn't fun. Vendors seemed, in some cases, stressed out-- and who could blame them?-- which also wasn't fun.

If the food wasn't so good, this place would be awful... but the food is terrific! Still... I'd rather go to the somewhat less crowded and equally tasty Calle San Juan!

This was our second trip to Calle de Laurel, a narrow road lined with dozens of pinchos (tapas) bars. It was a warm Saturday night, so the place was heaving as expected and the atmosphere was great, but definitely quieter than in 2018 and noticeably quicker and easier getting served inside the bars than last time, which was good. The only real downside was the obvious recent trend towards stag and hen parties, who were all getting blind drunk and blocking the street with their inflatable dolls whilst screaming and shouting and singing lame drinking songs. Despite this, we actually didn't see a single bit of trouble the whole night. The quality of tapas was as good as ever, although the suggestion you'll read that each bar has just one speciality tapas to avoid competition is utter nonsense these days. We counted at least 5 bars "specialising" in Papas Bravas or Zapatillas (toast with toppings) and many bars had multiple tapas offerings (not necessarily a bad thing though). Worth paying the extra 60 cents of so to upgrade your glass of Rioja to a Crianza, as some of the entry level Cosecha Rioja wines were quite poor this time. Pick a Muga, Ramon Bilbao, Coto Mayor etc and you can't go wrong. Overall, still the best tapas/pinchos experience in Spain!

Infamous for having the most bars per sq. metre than anywhere else in Spain, this is a short street in what is quite a big city of Logrono (for the region). Lots and lots of pinxtos bars (some better than others) with a good atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you are in Logrono.
