Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A beautiful beach in a beautiful resort. Would be absolutely lovely in the summer months and very busy I’d expect as it’s so nice

This is the downtown beach and the one that is likely to be most crowded. But it is also the one that is easiest to get to and the one where you can walk a short distance to food and drink. We like the city access.

€50 for 2 beds and a canopy. €40 for 2 beds and a parasol.
So we went to the Chinese hardware store at the back of town and bought our own sub loungers for €50 each. Borrowed parasols from our hotel (Platjador) who also kindly agreed to dispose of the sunloungers. Total estimated saving €300!!
Sorry sitges but you seem to be on a mission to alienate anyone not on a massive budget, as shown by the absence of anyone under 50.

Having been a visitor to Sitges for many years we were impressed by the changes that have taken place since last years catastrophic start to the season (no beds on the beaches until July!) the new sun beds and parasols are comfortable and look great.Less attractive is the price €40 for 2 beds and parasol quite a leap from €26 ! and a lot to pay every day for a week. The beaches seem to be controlled by large company’s now rather than the smaller franchises ,in fact Sitges Republic seems to hold a long stretch.Gone are the cheery (albeit noisy) drinks vendors, replaced by sullen youths and a rather expensive bar(€12 for a pina colada which consisted of a cup of ice and a small amount of said cocktail) .Having consumed the drink the necessary portaloos have also been replaced by 2 plumbed in toilet one of which was out of order and the other was disgusting having run out of paper by 2pm.Of course the lovely young people tuning the bar were not inclined to replace the loo roll and when I explained the lack a dull eyed female offered me a handful of serviettes !So yes big changes but not all good .

Great beaches and the town is great for people watching. We were here for gay pride parade. Super fun. The town is crowded on the weekends but in June the weekdays are mostly locals. Friendly place.

Sitges has 17 beaches, from family beaches to naturist and gay-friendly beaches.
The most popular and centrally located beaches are Platja de la Ribera, Platja de la Fragata, and Platja de Sant Sebastia.
Even if you are not for sunbathing, you can walk the pleasant seaside promenade next to the beaches.

A beautiful beach, just a stones throw south of Barcelona. We caught the train directly from Barcelona Sants and it was a good price. Worth it for a day out of the city.

Excellent beach. Very clean and plenty of chiringuitos. However sunbed/ parasols hire is very expensive. Also guys brings cocktails to you BUT they are very expensive and contain little alcohol !

Wonderful day spent walking around town and then spending the day on the beach. Chairs and umbrellas (parasols) reasonably priced to rent. Drink service on the beach as well. Clean, nice sand, great water! Many restaurants along the beach-lovely town!

Yes but they are limited. There are beaches all along the front of sitges and so finding a bed won't be a problem.

Is it necessary to book in advance a sun lounge on Sundays in July? We are planning a trip from Barcelona. And how far is from the train station to the beach?

Hi Mayamirun
The train station is just a short 5/10 min walk through the town to the beach. As you know Sunday is the main day off for the Spanish so I would imagine the beach area will be busy but not sure that you can "book" a sun lounger.
regards, john
How much do sunbeds cost pn the beach

I believe they were 15 euros so we decided to bring our towels and lay on the beach. That worked great and people are friendly around each other so no issues.

Been reading about Sitges Pride June 1-10, 2019; am planning a 5 day Barcelona vacation, and wanted to include a Pride event but my dates only match the Sitges event. Is this event Lesbian friendly? Seems all the promo photos are mostly Gay.
Also, better to stay in Sitges, or Barcelona?
I'm from a beach resort area in the US.

Don’t know about the pride festival but I have been to both Barcelona and Stiges several times and I would like to recommend Sitges, I know it is gay friendly, lots of small nice shops for both gay/hetro, very nice beaches and bars, seam to be a lot less criminal activity compared to Barcelona

Which train should we take from the airport to Sitges?
Chris M
Lichfield, UK1,154 contributions
It is quite easy. Take the train form T2 at Barcelona - it is one in one out so you won't get wrong one! Get off at next stop El Prat de Llobregat and go over to next platform. Take the train to either Vilanova or Vincenc de Calders and Sitges stop is on this route. The stations approaching are clearly identified in each carriage.

Will be in Barcelona in end Nov, wondering if I should do a day trip to Stiges? Will the place be too quiet during this period?

I’ve just been once, but what I read and heard is a town that all year round has very nice ambience and specially the weekends there’s a lot to do. (I’ve never been on November)
