Top international bands and musicians have been attracted to take to the massive stage at the annual Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona. About 100,000 music lovers head to the city in late May or early June for one of the biggest music festivals in Spain to see top global stars such as the late, great Lou Reed, Motorhead, White Stripes, Neil Young, Pulp and The Cure. It's an interesting mix of musical styles including indie, electronic, pop, jazz, metal and rock, performed on the different outdoor stages and in the auditorium, so there's something to suit most music fans. It’s a fun-packed festival, which is not as mainstream or commercial as some. Although there are top artists, you can also see lesser-known acts or hear more avant-garde genres. Plus, there are plenty of food stalls inside the arena by the sea, so you can refuel between concerts.

Nice music, but the organization is not good. Not enough instructions at the entrance, so had to go around 2 times to get a bracelet wasting my time; didn’t have water near the toilets- it was finished; several awkward problems with sound on main stages...More

My second trip to Primavera Sound and a pleasure to be there again. Everything is good about the experience, although they could do with more wine bars and grass areas for people to chill. Well behaved crowds make this a really enjoyable experience and I...More

If you're looking for the extra curricular frolics of many major festivals this ain't for you. If however you appreciate a wide range of eclectic music, which leans heavily towards the alternative (definitely not Kasabian/Noel Gallagher/Twin Atlantic et al) this will possibly be the best...More

The harbour area is great for a festival! You never realise just how many people is gathered there at the same time. The festival has a good number of stages and lots of acts, but the scenes and music is planned and timed quite good...More

The festival opens at 5pm each day and goes until 6am (there are a few small stages that are open from earlier but the main part of the festival opens late!)
