Strange sculpture
Feb 2019
I'm not sure what this sculpture is trying to say. It didn't mean much to me. Walked by it randomly and decided to take a picture of it.

One for Surrealist fans
Jul 2019 • Solo
El Cap de Barcelona is a surrealist sculpture by Roy Lichtenstein. Although it looks very abstract, is clearly intended to be a female face with influences from Gaudi, Dalí and Picasso. One for surrealist fans I think.

Beautiful scuplture that I didn't know it is a touristic attraction. It is right in the Port so if you go there you cannot miss it.

Abstract art
Oct 2018 • Couples
This is an amazing piece of art. It was made for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games by American Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. It is made out of concrete and ceramic. It is an abstract sculpture of a woman's head. The whole thing is covered in red, yellow, blue, black and white mosaic tiles! From a distance you would think you are looking at a painting. This is really interesting and is worth stopping by for a short time to admire it.

Cool.

While wandering around the wonderful port and marina area we came across this lovely sculpure.
El Cap De Barcelona created by American artist Roy Lichtenstein is a surrealist sculpure created between 1991 - 1992 .
Made from ceramic tile and concrete ,it's an abstract image if a lady's head and looks absolutely stunning, it blends in perfectly with the wonderful area it is located and makes for a great meeting point if your exploring the port and marina area.
Easy to locate on Passeig De Colon.
Well worth seeking out.

All that glitters is not Old (or is that gold?)
Sep 2018 • Couples
Barcelona is awash in old-ness; it has history all the way back to Romans. These oldies are most certainly the gold nuggets in the entity that Barcelona is but ... (there is always a but)

The bright shiny objects lighten the mood; the new modern art sculptures relieve a little of the somber feeling of so much antiquity. Barcelona underwent a revitalization project in the 1990's to clean up their image and improve the impression visitors would have. The Olympic Games were coming here in 1992 and the move to modernize the area was deemed essential.

This 2-dimensional face of a woman incorporates elements of the comic strip characters (pop art style that usually had those little dots for the color parts) and the bright 3 primary colors of blue, yellow and red abstractedly challenge the viewer to stand back and see the vision.

The "Barcelona Face" is almost 50 feet tall and is composed of concrete covered in tile.
