Designed by the British architect Richard Rogers, in collaboration with Alonso Balaguer-Arquitectos Asociados, the Arenas de Barcelona Shopping Complex is located at a strategic point in the city of Barcelona, in front of Plaza de Espana and at the foot of Montjuic, the museum mountain, between the streets of Tarragona, Diputacion, Gran Via and Llanca. It was designed based on large structures made of steel, reinforced concrete, wood, natural stone and large quantities of glass to make the most of the natural light and fabulous views. From the perspective of urban planning, Arenas de Barcelona serves as the main gear of the axis formed by the Palacio Nacional, the emblematic building built for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition which now houses the Catalan National Art Museum, the Fira de Barcelona Congress Centre, , Plaza de Espana, l’Escorxador park, Tarragona Street and Sants railway station. It has direct connections to two metro lines and to the Catalan Railway.

Just went there today after walking down Montjuic. We heard that it was the old bull fighting arena turned into a mall (bull fighting is now outlawed). The facade was beautiful and it was very nice inside. Lots of places to eat. Unfortunately is was...More

This is a converted bull ring , probably a good use for it. Near Placa Espagne so away from the main town but close to Montjuic. To be honest the shopping is all very standard Barcelona fair, though there is a handy supermarket and selection...More

This was built from a bull fighting ring (now prohibit in Catalonia) which makes it more interesting. It is circular with shops, restaurant, and a supermarket. The circular terrace gives a spectacular panoramic view of Barcelona City and a closer view of Montjuïc which is...More

There is everything to interest most people at the Las Arenas Shopping Mall. An art gallery, gymnasium, restaurants, cafes, shops, cinema and a rooftop gallery overlooking Barcelona.
