The excavations here are important. But the visit was desperately disappointing. I have a strong interest in the subject. The guide, however, refused to speak any English and would not allow the fluent Spanish speaker in our group of around 17 any time to translate...More

See my comments for the the archeolgoical centre. A real live excavation site for the earliest European humanoid with guided tours arranged from the visitor's centre in town with an archeologist. For all ages and very interesting.

INteresting and well organized place to visit (book a guide for your group to do the activities with) with children or groups. This place was more interesting than the actual archaeological site nearby.

We joined a tour in Spanish and the tour guide tried to explain more in English however he was so animated it didn't matter, we just wished we knew more Spanish. The bus took us out to the mine site where they found the human...More

We were a group of archaeologists (one of whom was an expert on the subject) and we were really disappointed that the trip to Atapuerca was completely in Spanish. The guide did speak English, but she said it would be impossible to tell us anything...More

When I hear about archaeology I go "Interesting but I'm not that much into it". Luckily enough I went on to this visit and it reminded me that being so close to thousand year remnants while a captivating guide transports your mind to the time...More
