Mt. Teide and Masca Valley Tour in Tenerife

234 reviews
West Tenerife’s landscapes are a must-see, but difficult to access independently without a rental car. This coach tour wraps up the main highlights in a day, with a guide to bring them alive. Cross Mt. Teide National Park, visit Garachico, see the Dragon Tree, and stroll in the mountain-ridge village of Masca. Transfers from North and South Tenerife make everything extra convenient, with just lunch as an extra cost.

Overall a nice trail. Although I think it's kind of an overstatement to call it "enchanted". I wouldn't say there's something enchanted - it's highly doubtful you'll come across a unicorn or leprechaun. Maybe if you visit on a hazy day it might seem "encantado". Contrary to what any people think, a permit is not needed to hike on La Ensillada trail (which goes through the Enchanted Forest). Many signs state otherwise though (see attached pictures) and it's totally unclear for me why the authorities would put such signs. I mean the trail crosses into La Pijaral for a meter or two but I don't think someone will write you a ticket for stepping into El Pijaral with one foot.

This well established botanical garden was started in the 1920s and is a real gem. It has numerous walkways with varying plants and the lower end of the garden has a great café situated by the famous flower clock. During the day it provides shade and a pleasant place to relax and at night it is beautifully lit and is frequented by groups of well heeled dog walkers. Passing through it late at night presented no issues.

Really beautiful forest tray with sturdy shrubs and fascinating succulents. Truly magical and eerily quiet. Numbers are limited and a permit is required. This can be booked on line in advance. If you cannot get a permit you can hike a similar trail from opposite the church in Chamorga.

Absolutely breathtaking paths. We got there in rain, mist, strong wind and extreme cold in late January. It was still an amazing path to walk on. Lichens, epiphytons, ferns and loads of endemic plant and bird species. I highly recommend this place.
