This was the best walk of the week for us. We parked our car in Los Canarios & took a taxi to El Pilar - €42 ( as it was a Sunday, it would have been €37 otherwise) but well worth it. There was no...More

This trail starts in the Refugio del Pilar, which is reachable by taxi (around 32 euros). It starts with pine woods and the way goes up for 6 kms. Then the path goes between volcanoes and beautiful views of both sides of the island. Finally...More

We drove up to Refugio El Pilar where there's lots of parking space and a very informative visitor center, water and toilets. The hike took us 6 hours including breaks, I think we walked a little faster than average but not that much. In Los...More

This is the actual view of the volcanoes and lava. It is a great hike with lots to see but there is no shade. If you come without proper clothing or water, you will be in danger because it is very hot.

We started from the camping grounds El Pilar and hiked to the top of the Desedea . Key is to pick a day and time so you do'nt end up in clouds and no visibility. Ask locals :-)

This hike was planned to be the finale to a week of walking and, for someone who hasn't seen volcanoes before, it didn't disappoint. Starting from El Pilar campsite (there may well be a bus service going here soon) at sunrise, the whole trek to...More

Ruta de los Volcanes is a treck down the spine of the island from El Pilar in the North to Fuencaliente in the South (or vice versa) and takes in some of the island's fascinating volcanic landscape and some very fine views. It's free and...More
