The Observatory is on a hair rising winding way up to the Roque de los Muchachos and sits majestically on a dramatic landscape fit for a science fiction movie!. Due to inclement weather and time restrictions we were unable to visit the site but were...More

The drive up to the observatory is breathtaking. Countless hairpins as you wind your way up through the Canary Pines and out through the treeline towards the observatory. The structures themselves are almost unworldly looking like something from a science fiction film. Once up to...More

We arrived there during the day as a finish point of walking trail from Mirador de los Andenes. It looks great, kind of UFO like. The size and amount of telescopes is surprising. Definitely worth it.

After a stunning drive up the mountain (at least 48 hairpins!) we emerged into the lunar landscape of Los Muchachos - dotted with hi-tech telescopes. We joined the organised tour (no other way to see inside a telescope) run by the excellent Sheila Crosby. After...More

I Don’t think they do night tours. I could only book daytime tours.
