We would our way gently uphill from Santa Cruz de la Palma through forests and out through the tree line to catch out first glimpse of the telescopes of La Palma. Being above the clouds with these friendly giants all around was a surreal experience...More

If you visit the island of La Palma, and you are at least somewhat scientifically minded, you **must** visit this observatory. This place is worth a visit for the views alone, but since this observatory is one of the top observatories in the world, your...More

The Observatory is on a hair rising winding way up to the Roque de los Muchachos and sits majestically on a dramatic landscape fit for a science fiction movie!. Due to inclement weather and time restrictions we were unable to visit the site but were...More

Wow! It's very rare my breath is taken away but this trip did that. We were on the round the island trip with Thompson and so glad we managed to see this. The winding roads you take to get to here are just as impressive...More

Very steep roads though, and quite narrow sometimes, so you need not to be afraid of heights.Sadly our tour was cancelled, but the surroundings made the trip well worth it. Beautiful hiking over there as well!

There are so many observatories here but you have to visit by appointment, our viewing was cancelled due to bad weather which was gutting. We decided to drive up the next day anyway just to have a look at them. Words cannot express what a...More
