Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small (a bit more than an hour) but very good museum. Really well done panels, video, exhibits and reproductions with good spanish and english texts. Covers a lot of the environment, people and culture incl. the strange whistling of the indigenous people of La Gomera. Obviously the work of very accomplished scientists, photographers, modellers etc. - but highly accessible for everyone. As a nice nerdy supplement you can get copies of their scientic articles by email. Only wish is more info on what was written/decoded of the libyco-berber inscriptions.

This is a small (4 rooms) museum offering an introduction to La Gomera and its archaeology. It is attractive and informative and costs 2 euros a person - and will keep you busy for 30 minutes max.

Although I'd been to the Canaries before, it was only when I came here that I began to find out anything about the background and history of the islands. It's brilliant - really thought provoking. OK, some of things I learned through talking with one of the archaeologists, but the displays are good too. And there is an interactive exhibit on the whistling !

It is very nice and interesting to see the old history of this wonderful island. You get to know about the old population before the Spaniards arrived.

Worth 30 mins of your time for 2.5 euros. Rather small but excellently presented in both Spanish and English. Very interesting information on the history of La Gomera. I would have liked to have seen a little on Columbus using the port as his final departure point before his first voyage of discovery....but saw very little around the area and it seems he has been 'cancelled' ?

After visiting the central church we noticed the sign to the local archaeological museum. For a small charge there were various rooms dedicated to the original inhabitants of La Gomera, their lifestyles, living conditions, diet, religion, medical complaints etc, Very well laid out and a nice way to spend an hour or two while the locals enjoy their siesta.

This was a small, but really well thought out, interesting and informative museum. The sections were divided into themes; for example language, spirituality or tools. It is located in the side square to the church.
