We visited the museum in mid-September, 2018. The admission price is a bargain compared to others in Bilbao. Exhibits were very well done - covering Basqueland history from ancient times to current. Sections of the museum covered sea-faring, fishing, whaling, iron work, pastoral (shepherd) activities,...More

This museum efficiently captures more Basque history on a few floors than I than I would have thought possible. I would recommend it to any visitor to Bilbao. The man at the admissions desk was welcoming and fluent in English. The exhibits were informative, covering...More

It took us three Basque Museums (in Bilbao, San Sebastian, and Bayonne) to get the "big picture" of Basque life and culture. This museum is well done, particularly for the exhibit, posters, and photos of the fête. We spent over two hours absorbing the displays...More

This is an excellent museum. Not to be missed! It cover all the history and culture of a area I knew nothing about. I love seeing local artist's work this was there too.

To be honest, I entered the museum because I was expecting a chapter on the ETA liberation movement. Nothing as such. Big disappointment.

An excellent museum in a lovely old building. A good mixture of ancient and modern exhibits. Having arrived at the end of the Aste Nagusia festival. It was interesting to see an exhibit to explain the whole thing. 3 floors of very different but nonetheless...More

We visited on a Thursday when it is free entry. The museum was much larger than anticipated and there was a vast amount of artefacts which impressed us. There is almost no information available in English which meant that we did not spend too long...More

This museum gives a good introduction about the Basque people and their identity and cultural heritage. They show decorations of houses, dresses, pottery, and lifestyle throughout the centuries. Worth a visit.

Very nice museum of Basque culture, including a nice collection of giant "puppets" used in street festivals. A great way to spend an hour or two and learn more about Basque Country.

I am not sure to what extent they have information in English. If they don't, it would be a shame: they promote so much other museums and places and such a lack of interest in your own culture
