A chunk of reinforced concrete allegedly a person turning his / her back on the town & welcoming future horizons. No wonder the local taxpayers were unimpressed. Enjoyed the cliff top walk, old cannons & enplacements. Super views. 30+ hot-air balloons lifted off.

Towering over the old naval defense of Gijon this monumental statue is well worth the short walk and climb from the center of town.

Large concrete sculpture that is starting to show it's age with rust breaking through the concrete but nevertheless offers some interesting angles on the horizon. Nice grassy setting on the headland so take a stroll and touch the concrete.

Walked there with my friends to enjoy the great view, and we were not disappointed. The only minus is that we had to avoid a lot of dog poop! However, the view is very beautiful and relaxing, great little escape from the city.

This concrete sculpture, created in 1990 and facing out to sea, is by Basque artist Eduardo Chillida. After initial resistance it has become a symbol of the city. Easy to access from the city centre and beach areas at the top of Cimadevilla (the oldest...More
