We arrived at 11.00 on a Monday which was the advertised time for a guided tour. These do not run at this time, but maybe on a weekend. We were able to borrow an audio guide but this was disappointing as two thirds of the...More

Nice university. Factory remnants are hard to find. Hours of viewing are not the greatest. There are signs with info on them, but not so much of the factory. Factory was largest in the world.

This used to be the tobacco factory and now it is the University of Seville. This is where we had our conference. It is beautiful and worth seeing.

Do a little homework and read about it before you go. It's quite interesting. This was the cigar making factory that employed mostly women beginning in the early 19th century and is said to have been the inspiration and locale for Bizet's well known opera,...More

It is a beautiful building looking like a palace. Hard to imagine a cigarette factory in this place which inpired the french composer Bizet for the opera Carmen.

Without going on a guided tour there's nothing much to be learned from wandering into the building being nosy. Yes, it did used to be the state run tobacco factory but today it's the university and what a great place to study. There wasn't any...More
