Seventeenth century church and charity hospital for the poor financed by D. Miguel Manara. Apparently he was a wealthy playboy who found religion and a higher purpose later in life. The structure is pretty interesting. When we were there there were 2 spectacularly large paintings...More

A lesser visited spot with some fantastic paintings, including at the moment, a close up view of two masterpieces by Murillo which have been removed for restoration. Don't miss the vanitas by Valdes Real.

I chanced upon this hospice on my way to the Real Maestranza bullring museum. Its exterior caught my attention - impressive white building, intricate in design, beautiful indeed. Unfortunately, it was closed when I was there around 1745hr. I understand the hospice is still in...More

The focus of this visit is the church, which has a beautiful altarpiece and some nicely macabre catholic art. There is also a small museum.

From the outside you would never guess that there is so much beauty inside this building. It was good to see active restoration efforts too. I really liked this place.

Worth a visit to see this highly ornate church. The surrounding buildings and gardens are interesting.

The church is part of a bigger complex that was originally built as a hospital for the poor (and is now a residence for the elderly). I strongly recommend picking up the audio guide when you buy the entrance ticket (the audio guide is included...More
