This monument is both a homage to Queen Isabella and Christopher columbus. Created in 1892 for the 400th anniversary of the Discovery of America. A great reminder of the event that set in motion the golden age of the Spanish Empire.

A lot of people, especially in the evenings. Bus stations near. The monument is very interesting, especially for them, who know the story of Isabel and Colombo.

Plaza de Isabel La Catolica is a small square at the end of Gran Via near the cathedral and is a good place to sit and take a break and watch the world go by in the busy central street of the city.

This plaza is pretty much the centre of Granada and we passed it walking back from the Albacin at he point where the Gran Via runs into the Reyes Catalicos. It has statues of Isabel and Columbus presumably where she is sending him off to...More
