We did a 14km walk from Hohe Sonne to the Wartburg, the Burschenschaftsdenkmal and back to Hohe Sonne. Beautiful area. Particularly enjoyed the Drachenschluct area.

This was a fun and relaxing walk. You see the gorge walls all around you and you hear the water flowing under the grates you are walking on.

To get here is about a mile walk from the Mariental , there is also a car park. It begins with a nice gateway with a dragon and what seems like a gentle stroll alongside a strean, but suddenly you come to a mini waterfall...More

Recommend 11km clockwise round trip from Hohe Sonne (car park/bus stop) down Drachenschlucht, up Landgraferrschlucht and back down Weinstrasse. Nice views from the top. Also possible to walk...More

Nice walk, but not very impressive. As it is humid there, good to apply some insect repellent to keep the horseflies away. I did the round tour starting from Hohe Sonne through the Drachenslucht and back via the Landgrafenschlucht. This is listed as a 3.5...More
