Due to the fact that all the information on the exhibits is only written in German we found the place dull and uninteresting. We visited at 16.00 on a Monday evening and the best thing about the place were the views over the city

My first impression of this place was having to pay .50 Euro to go to the bathroom and it didn't even have toilet paper. What a rip off. What am I paying for if the place isn't even maintained?? Then we entered the fortress. They...More

The Ehrenbreitstein Fortress was probably our favorite tour of our vacation. The history of the fortress was given to us by an actor dressed in period costume and playing the role of a gentleman from the 1800s who gave us a running dialog and full...More

If you like forts, you will love this one. It is huge with lots to see. We were told it is second in size only to the fortifications in Gibraltar. Well worth the visit. We found the signage to be challenging, but nonetheless we found...More

Taking the cable car to the fortress is just a prelude to the visit. Many historical displays and the views from the top are camera memories perfect

Great views from several perspectives, a very interesting museum covering the deep history of the site, and a pleasant day trip or can be concerned into an hour or two.

Interesting to visit if you take the cable car, the fortress itself was restored some years ago and has various exhibitions inside. An odd mix with some more interesting than others. There is a decent cafe/restaurant and some fine views. During our visit there was...More

We didnt go to see the exhibitions, as it was too warm and we didnt have time enough. But the ride up in the gondola was nice and we had an impressive view from the viewing platform (no need to pay for that).

The fortress is open from 9am - 7pm. You can get a combined Cable Car and fortress ticket at the Deutsches Eck which costs 13.80 euros for an adult, 6.20 euros for a child and 12.50 euros for a concession.
