The stretch of the river from Rudesheim to Koblenz is just spectacular. Many castles and churches, not to mention the vineyards. We were on a cruise from Basel to Amsterdam, and this stretch of the river was definitely one of the highlights.
Fantastic way to see castle after castle set in breathtaking scenery. Lots of vinyards and old towns too. Our Ship the Emerald Skye was just great; going slow because the water was low it took 4 hours to navigate the Gorge. Great view from the...More
I wish I was able to take a cruise but I could afford a coach tour through the Rhine Valley. The going was slow but very enjoyable and I loved every minute of the sights including green trees and more green trees. They would never...More
It was just a seven night cruise, and we started at Konigswinter and also did a couple of days along the Mosel. The Rhine was fascinating in so many ways. There are barges passing continually, heavily laden, and each one has a few cars on...More

My wife and I just completed our Rhine River cruise on Avalon Affinity. Basically, the cruise was very enjoyable; the service was excellent - all of the crew that we came into contact with were personable, and helpful. The food served on Affinity was fresh,...More
The stretch from Koblenz to Ruedesheim is UNESCO World Heritage. Visited for the first time in a train from Vienna to Cologne on the banks of the river. New visit by boat and by car. Impressive scenery.
We have just returned from a week long cruise along the Rhine & Moselle rivers on board MV Prinses Christina.
The scenery was fantastic of course, but I really wanted to review the Prinses Christina as when we booked our holiday I couldn't really find...More
The castles were my favorite. They're very neat and it's great to be well informed about them before going too, makes things more interesting.
I love the little town there too.
In general it's an amazing place.
Rüdesheim is a small town but perfect for one night. I cruised the Rhine gorge on a cruise ship and wished I could be driving it instead. A 3 hour cruise is not a bad idea but the villages look so quaint as you pass that you... More
Rüdesheim is a small town but perfect for one night. I cruised the Rhine gorge on a cruise ship and wished I could be driving it instead. A 3 hour cruise is not a bad idea but the villages look so quaint as you pass that you will probably wish you had driven too. If you want to stop and really see these towns, I would go by car and take your time. The views of the castles and churches will be closer and you can always shoot pictures of the opposite bank. The best views are high up looking down at the gorge. If you see a road that goes up - I would explore it!
