A great range of restaurants and coffee shops line this pleasant street. I prefer this to central Essen. It's more diverse and energetic. Shop, Eat, Sop, Enjoy.

Well basically if you like the appeal of a smaller high street, that has a few bars and pubs up there that aren't all big chains (well some are still part of smaller chains) this will do. There are a few shops here that might...More

Having read the raving reviews of Rüttenscheider Street, we took the Underground to Rüttenscheider Stern to explore the area. We were probably expecting too much and late afternoon on a rainy early January day probably wasn’t the best of times to visit. Fact is, we...More

It's a long street with just about everything you need. All in all, it's probably the best part of Essen, but it can be a little claustrophobic as there are so many people on a sunny day. Good for a walk and shopping.

I came here on business but was overwhelmed with the experience. It's like Oxford street but without the flagship stores, or like the Kü in Düsseldorf without the high end fashion labels. The Chanselise without the Arc de Triumph. It has trees with cherry blossom...More

I'm a local, but only found Ruttenscheiderstrasse just recently, and like it. It has a "small town" atmosphere with tree lined streets and pleasant pavement cafes (in the warmer months) and a good selection of restaurants, cafes and speciality shopping. However, just nearby the Ruttenscheiderstrasse...More

It's just another commercial street, albeit cute, reminding me a little of the commercial street in Geneva, Switzerland and the 16th Street Mall in Denver Colorado. Not bad but nothing special. You can always walk and find somewhere to eat out or sit and have...More
