Nice building.

Although I never ventured into the museum I was more that happy to stop and admire the different architectural styles of this museum.
You have the big modern brick and glass museum building and as part of the museum and adjacent is the ancient church that houses medieval exhibitions, it's cool and by the amount of people milling around the museum on our visit very popular.
Easy to locate along Cacilienstraße,most definitely well worth checking out if your in the area.

Fantastic

Fantastic mediaeval religious artworks. Collected from all over mediaeval Germany and beautifully preserved. Not a place for children sadly unless they have that interest

Small but lovely collection

Relatively small collection of medieval religious art but still there are some very impressive pieces. In particular the carved oak pieces are lovely and the memento mori fascinating. I was in here for not very long. A discount is provided with the CologneCard but I still think it’s somewhat pricey.

Based in the church the collection of Medieval artifacts is se magnificent and well worth seeing. Yu can easily spend 3 plus hours. Its truly magnificent, from the Crystal cross to the spiral horn Narwhal Whale. We loved it and would go back. Just stunning

A Highpoint of our Cologne Visit
Sep 2019 • Friends
Although we hadn’t heard of this museum, when we found the Roman-Germanic Museum and Kolumba closed, we explored more of the city’s offerings and found the Museum Schnutgen. It was superb, at very modest cost, and turned out to be more enriching for us than many of the other places we toured.

Worth the visit.

This is surprisingly good. A great conversion of an old church site to house a terrific collection of sacred statues and carvings. Some of the best of German craftsman from the 12th C onwards. Well done.

What an amazing museum. In a beautiful setting. A wide collection of medieval stained glass and religious art, statues and carvings etc. You don't need to be religious to appreciate this collection. There is also a guide on a tab which you can use for free.

A Delight

What a good combination. A beautiful Romanesque church with medieval art on exhibition. The museum was fairly empty when I visited which gave me the opportunity to really look at the beautiful and interesting items.
Really worth a visit. You use your entry ticket to open the door to the garden

A Mistake I would Make Again and Again
May 2019 • Couples
My husband and I had just arrived in Cologne and were staying at the Excelsior which is right off the Dom platz. We thought we knew how to get to the Wallraf Museum but got hopelessly lost. It was cold and raining and not many people out on the street. We stumbled on Schnutgen Museum. I am a museum fiend. This one, which had a special exhibition on the Salomon stone carvings at the time, is so beautifully curated and set that you could skip all the other museums in Cologne and just do this and the Dom Cathedral and call it a day.

Medieval religious Art and idols
May 2018 • Solo
The museum is a home to medieval art. The construction and interior are quite unique. The statues, artifacts and idols were unique and vintage.
