We passed it a few times on the 100 bus and once we learned more about the locally nicknamed pregnant oyster we decided to pay it a quick visit. It is very peaceful and has a nice cafe / restaurant and has music concerts at...More

The cafe is at teh back of the theatre, looking at the River Spree. We stopped for lunch and had very reasonable price and good quality drinks and sandwiches, with lots of choice. Service was friendly and quick. Highly recommended.

We were told that HKW didn't get too much traffic because it is somewhat isolated from other sites but that is precisely the charm. Plan your trip here to soak in what's on the program but also to take in Tiergarten which is an extensive...More

Very impressive venue, it is somewhat remoniscent of post-utopian architecture and style. Located in the centre of Tiergarten, it makes a very charismatic location in park surroundings. Usually hosts exhibitions, conferences, Berlinale screenings.

Nice building, not sure if you can visit it as we were there quite in the morning. Looks nice and the surrounding park is also nice for a walk.

It's truly Berlin's pregnant oyster, currently under renovation... A worth while visit for Architectural History Buffs trying to understand the Allies and West German interventions towards creating architectural inspirations for a divided city. The walk to the terrace of the oyster, the Henry Moore sculpture...More

Originally West berlin's Culture Forum, locals still nickname it 'the Pregnant Oyster' or 'Jimmy Carter's Smile'. It's a bit of a hike from Bundestag U-bahn station (U55) and at the moment it's being rennovated so you might not be able to get inside it.
