11th century, Romanesque cathedral. St Kilian (patron saint of Wurzburg) and his two colleagues were killed on this site in 7th century AD. Lovely, Baroque exterior.

Stucco was amazing - esp the "curtain" - hard to believe it wasn't fabric. The modern art work did not really fit in, but I suppose you have to move with the times...

Even if you are not a regular church-goer you will be taken aback by the amazing interior of this church. Bright white with the most beautifully painted panels. My neck ached from looking upwards, but couldn't stop looking. Don't pass it by.

We didn’t go into this church but we heard the history of the church from our guide and we took lots of pictures. Quite interesting once you look beyond the facade.

This baroque style church was damage in the second World War. That's why the interior looks quite modern one. The ceiling is beautifully painted. There is a small chapel in the church where you can pray in silence.

If you like architecture this is a must on your list. Make sure to go when there is no service. The ceiling is amazing. During lunch it is busy with people coming in for prayer.

A satisfyingly symmetrical church stands on the site where three ill-fated Irish missionaries who tried to convert Duke Gosbert to Christianity in 686 met their maker. Romanesque at its core, it was given a thorough baroque restyle by the Zimmermann brothers and is typical of...More

The Neumunster contains the bones St. Kilian, the Irish Monk who converted Duke Gozbert and many of his subjects to Christianity in the late 600's. It's uncanny entering the church and in the distance ahead of you finding a bust of St. Kilian and his...More
