This place gives amazing views of the city. We walked through on our own and did not do one of the guided tours. If you are somebody who wants to learn about the history it would probably be best 2 experience this with a guide....More

After you get done with your coke at the restaurant at the top because you're out of breath, as I sat there guzzling my coke, I wondered what madman would build such an imposing fortress, or what idiot would try and attack it. I toured...More

Loved walking around the fortress and seeing the architecture. Add this to you must-do list. If walking up hill is too strenuous for you, drive there and park. However, you can walk there from the bridge.

We were lucky to catch a guided tour just when we arrived. Very good experience! There is lots of history to be told besides the fantastic buildings. A must see in Wurzburg

Did the escorted tour of the fortress which was very informative. We got public transport bus to the fortress as it is a very long and steep walk. We really enjoyed our visit and the views are stunning.

If you have the ability, I would recommend walking to the fortress. Walking from the river side you get to walk among the vineyards planted on the steep slopes. For the return walk the tree lined carriage path back down to the river. It is...More

Climbing the hill is a lot of work, maybe better to catch a bus or taxi uphill and walk back to town downhill.
