- AllanJGJWellington, New Zealand3,848 contributionsAlways lots of activityIf you're in Nuremberg for any period of time you'll become very familiar with old square at the heart of the old town. There always seems to be a market of some kind going on, the mechanical clock on the church to listen to, the wondrous 'beautiful' fountain' and much else besides. A great place to gravitate to late in the day and have an aperol spritz while watching all the (other!) tourists.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 May 2023

Nearby is the golden Beautiful Fountain. Didn't see too many souvenirs here. Ice cream and gelato are everywhere.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 July 2023
- samganscSingapore, Singapore21 contributionsBeautiful city and nostalgic Christmas marketI experience the characterful Nurberg once you enter the city from afar. The beautiful architecture is unique here at every street we walked. The Christmas market just outside main train station is so alive and the snow just adds to the christmas-ty vibe. We grab hot coffee at one of the cosy cafe 12 here and people are so friendly. Not only here, as walk toward the town square, there were more Christmas market stalls as far as we could see. Definitely a great place to feel the Christmas mood during this festive. 👍🏻Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 December 2023

This old market square is a nice part of the town with some famous old buildings, churches and „der Schoene Brunner”. The main square is a good meetingpoint, too. We enjoyed walking there and saw the market with different, interesting products. It’s worth a visit. photos.

In walking around the Old Town, you just cannot miss the open air market. We were there in early Spring and the white and green asparagus was just so abundant. In the States, you don't see white asparagus much but here in Europe, it is everywhere and huge stalks.

This is the main place in Nuremberg.Surrounded by restaurants and cafes, aswell as shops and other places of interest and is where the tourist information centre is.From here you can get a train tour of Nuremberg and other coach trips. There are market stalls, selling mainly fruit and veg,and the place is full of activity.

This is a good size market with a variety of interesting stalls. The square is attractive with plenty to see and some nice architecture. The shops here are good quality too we were tempted on a few occasions.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink too and this gives the square a vibrant atmosphere. Easy to walk around and a nice blend of locals and tourists.

Will it be opened on the 6th of January?
How does it usually look like at the beginning of January? Still with Christmas decorations, or everything is removed?
Thank you.

Hi, I will be in Nuremberg on Sunday, 4th Sep 2017 and will be staying at the Adina Apartment Hotel. Will the Hauptmarkt stalls/shops be open on Sundays? If they are all closed on Sundays than where would be the best place to shop and sightsee at the same time?

Hello when we visited only some stalls were open on the Sunday. Mainly craft stalls. Only a few. Saturday is the main day. You could contact tourist information because there are different events on during the year.
