I can't recommend this museum too highly - in fifty years of travelling, I thought it one of the best museums I've ever been to. It has a marvellous, eclectic collection, including wonderful paintings from the Northern Renaissance, a superb collection of armour, scientific instruments...More

Of our two weeks in Germany, touring seven cities, this was one of the highlights. The collections displayed were among the finest, descriptions expertly done and very educational, and everything beautifully arranged. The historic parts of the museum building with the statuary/carved figures were striking....More

All about the positive past, from middle ages, touch of roman, hint of modern. There is something for most tastes and some must see displays like the globe without the USA! Loved the fashion, the farmhouse and the art.

We only spent about 3 hours here hitting the highlights at the top of our list, but could have spent all day. This is a world class museum with something for everyone who enjoys culture and history.

We called into the Museum for a short wander round and ended up spending hours there. It had some brilliant historic German rooms which I particularly liked. A brilliant museum with so much to see its impossible to describe everything, but I would recommend going.

This museum is one of the largest in Germany and is dedicated almost exclusively to German culture (with a touch of Austrian and Dutch cultures). It is a modern building but annexed to it is a 14th century Carthusian church and charterhouse. The star exhibits...More

This place is huge, and is free of charge on Wednesdays from 6-9 pm. There are loads of items to see and range from modern to ancient. However, the museum doesn't have superb/star artifacts to show off, which is the reason why it gets 4...More
