We arrived by DB ICE first class to the Hauptbahnhof with valid 24 hours city ticket. We used trams and metro. All of them were clean and punctual.

Clean, fast quiet rides. A key point: dependable and easy to get around. They have 3 day passes which if you are going to see many places seems like they are worth it instead of the single ticket.
