Theresienwiese is the home of the Oktoberfest since 1810. If you are in Munich mid September through the first weekend in October, it is a must. Theresienwiese translates roughly to the Meadow of Theresa. Be sure to admire her huge statue!

Found this when exploring the city. Was a Winter Fair and Christmas Market, although slightly different from the traditional markets found elswhere. More ethnic foods and specialized shops, not just Christmas ornaments. Worth a stop

The location where Oktoberfest takes place becomes the charming & much more quiet family carnival atmosphere during winter for winter Tollwood. Many food stalls & even more drink stalls. They also have some tents with multiple different stalls selling items from jewellery to clothes to...More

This is a very cool market, different from the traditional markets elsewhere. This has more ethnic food stalls, feels more "one-world" and has diversity of crafts. I loved it. They have a theme tent to explain the theme of the year. Very interesting.

No there’s no tickets you just walk in. You may need to book a space in a tent, but it wasn’t terribly busy when we were there so you should be fine.
