Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I booked a regular priced tour to see the King Ludwig’s II Schwanstein Castle and his Linderhof Palace in Bavaria. My friend and I arrived early in the morning to the meeting point in Munich, across from Hauptbanhof - Munich’s Central Railway Station. We saw how many tour buses were parked and most of them were for our tour. So, it’s not just one bus. It’s several buses that departed at the same time 8:30 in the morning for the same tour. The name of the company is Gray Line. I saw one tour bus after another departing completely full of tourists. And that’s in January, slow season. So, I do not recommend at all taking the $68 dollar per a person tour. You will be going to the sight full of people. Plus upon arrival there, you have to get off the bus and stand in long line to purchase the entrance passes to the castle. Not fun at all. I’m glad that I asked for upgrade while standing in line in Munich before entering the bus. I upgraded to the small group premium tour. The tour includes all entrance fees. You don’t need to stand in line anywhere. The tour bus offered free WiFi, snacks and drinks, even beer. Our tour guide - Caroline was absolutely awesome. Very knowledgeable tour guide. When we got to see the castle, the place was overcrowded. So, if you want to enjoy yourself, pay a little extra which again includes all entrances. The only extra few we had to pay is 2.50 euros for the shuttle taking us up the mountain which saves you 40 minutes of time instead of walking.

Our guide, Hanae, was a gem.
Besides her vast knowledge of history, art, culture, and her outstanding ability to communicate it in an interesting way, she was always attentive to us and inquired often about our comfort. Whenever she offered directions she was clear and concise, making sure everyone understood times & locations to minimize delays and maximize time for each location.
And the locations? Priceless.

Elisabeth gave us a great day tour to the Eagle’s Nest at Berchtesgaden! She kept my group of university students engaged and attentive all day, and was patient with a larger group. Thanks so much Elisabeth!

Had purchased a Munich travel card advised it would give us a discount on bus. When I showed to driver he waved it away saying no discount paid full fare. There are not many stops the guide recording was dreadful not giving much information on the sights. When tour ended headed to main desk and was given a refund of €30 for our 4 adults and 2 children. There are free walking guides would choose that option next time

It was organized quite well and guides were very polite and gave clear instructions about schedule, time of meetings and places. Unfortunately, it was really too little time planned for Neuswanstein, after visiting the castle we could hardly take pictures outside the castle and then we had to run to catch the bus. No chance to visit Marienbrücke and take a walk in the beautiful area around the castle, which was really disappointing. At the same time, we spent at least 20 minutes (maybe more) in some village (sorry, I don't remember its name) - it was beautiful, but given the choice, I would have spent this time near Neuswanstein.

A must see for your trip in Munich! Our guide Jacqueline is super amazing! She is funny and super friendly, yet she gives so much information about the castle and the palace we were going to see! She made jokes to relax some anxious passengers and made them feel at ease. She recommended great restaurant for us to try. The food is delicious and the environment is real Bavarian culture!! The whole package is superb and the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend the tour!

This is a must do if you like castles. The bus trip was very comfortable and coffee/snacks are provided. Ursula our guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Ludwig the second and Bavarian history in general. We were entertained for start to finish. Going in winter was great as the snowfall made it magical and avoiding the summer crowds. Highly recommended.

We did the day tour to Rothenburg and Harburg Castle. Tour was very informative with a great tour guide, Elisabeth who shared all her knowledge on Germany's history. Rothenburg is a beautiful city and recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore outside of Munich.

Not worth the money. People on the bus tend to be rude and curt and not helpful at all. No one told us that some of the museums are not open on Mondays. They dropped us off in front of a closed museum and we had to wait for 20 mins for next bus. I would skip this and take the other hop.on hop off if it is reviewed as better. Bus deivers and guides were rude. Only nice part was the histroy narration from the headphones.

We are in Munich in early Oct 2022. We booked all put local tours, neuschwanstein castle, eagle's nest, Salzburg with St Wolfgang and rottenburg, all through GetYourGuide app and it linked to gray line agency in Munich.

Out of 4 tours, 3 of my tours happened to be Monica W. from Gray line. She is a great and professional guide, providing the history, information of the places we visiting and along the way. Her pace is good and very clear on what's needed from the tourist especially when it is a big group for neuschwanstein and rottenburg which I am going today. I asked her for suggestions before I booked my 2nd to 4th tours in Munich and she gave me fantastic advice. Thank you Monica W

All the bus drivers from Gray line are all friendly , Gezim was the bus driver we met. They also sell beer and drinks on the bus too.

The bus provided by gray line is comfortable and there is a toilet on bus, no wifi on bus though.
