This is an excellent castle. Neuschwastein I thought was one of the best I’d seen. King Ludwig built Neuschwastein and watched the construction from here. Be sure to get your ticket at the ticket center next to Hotel Alpenstuben and Hotel Mueller before going up...More

The tour guide for this was very knowledgeable, it was less people and slower paced than Neuschwanstein. I liked this tour a lot better. Very interesting history especially since Ludwig grew up here. Also great views over to Neuschwanstein. Well worth it. If you’re touring...More

Really.... i love castles and Germany is full of them. Each castle has a unique story and history and this one is no exception. It is smaller than the more iconic castles but it has its own beauty. The drive to get there is beautiful...More

I have done a fuller review of visiting this location and the arrangements on the Neuschwanstein site, but overall we found this castle less crowded and easier to access. The interior is impressive and not to be missed if you have bothered to come here....More

You get to see this castle first (if you get two castle ticket) before going uphill to Ludwig's castle. I loved the interior , and the overall feel. After all, this was a place were the royal Bavarian family spent their summers -unlike the big...More

Awesome castle. Viewed this castle in combination with Neuschwanstein Castle. Both are awesome. Very different from other European castles which often seem like homes of people who had too much money and didn't know what to do with it.Could definitely see a moorish influence in...More

It’s beautiful castle but if you are not aware of the history then avoid to take a audio guide which is compulsory to visit inside the castle. You can visit outside free and take pics without any restrictions.

Reserved my tickets in advanced online - Glad I did since the queue was much shorter than those who were go-show. Had purchased tickets for the 2 castles (Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau) and the Bavarian museum. You might as well do all if you are planning...More

Unless your children can stand like soldiers and listen for the entirety of the 35 minute tour then don't even both. Don't worry it's not that worth it anyhow. We got an old man as a guide on our English tour. Clearly he has worked...More

Yes, definitely! The walk up to the castle is nice & the small fountain garden is pretty too, but I wouldn’t skip the castle due to rain. We actually enjoyed this castle the most.
