So, I used to live in Garmisch and have also visited multiple times since living there. I have therefore been to/seen the majority of "tourist" attractions there are to see in Garmisch - however I had never before seen the AlpspiX. It was for this...More

The platform itself was very busy so hard to get to the front to get a good view, but just 10m off the platform the views were just as good, without the metal framework around. Walking down from the platform to the next lifts though...More

Some weeks ago I decided to take a short to Munich with the travel dept. in Dublin. Last weekend was the time of departure. The Friday forecast the arrival of a violent storm from the Atlantic. The agency directed me by text message to proceed...More

Absolutely stunning views! A must see when in Garmisch. Easy for anyone to reach by the Alpspitzbahn. You can have this as a starting point for further hiking. Or just go up and down and have something to eat and drink at the piX. Or...More

A very well positioned viewing platform, juts out over a tall vertical rock face. Give amazing views of the valley below and beyond.

A great piece of engineering! A must do if one is comfortable with heights! The sweeping views of the area, standing on the platform are breathtaking! A must do when in Garmisch!

Very sturdy, so don't be afraid. You won't regret the views. Take a coat even on a sunny day, there's quite a wind chill.

Standard cable car/train combo from Garmisch includes assent to the viewing platform. Views to the east, north and west stretch for miles, while to the south Alpspitz and Hochblassen and immediately west, Waxenstein dominate - quite dramatic, but not for people who don't like heights!

We didn't buy a ticket to travel to the viewing platform itself, but we visited it on the day we were skiing in the Garmisch Classic area. Walking out over the very steep drop is a bit nerve-wracking if you don't like heights, but the...More

No disappointment here. A little pricey but you get fantastic views. Our day was a little foggy at times but the platforms still provided good vantage points. The cable car rides were also great. Be prepared to hike a little. Be prepared for cold temps...More

The hike is about 5 hours in a reasonable pace. The trail starts at the Alpspix platform and descends towards the gorge. There is a cable car up to Alpspix and that's the fastest way up. You should park the car near the... More
