If you are in Bayreuth, you have to come here. Very good value at 8 Euro including audio guide and well laid out and informative.

The museum isn’t leveraging on its potential in terms of using interactive media. There are audio guides and VR but the technology isn’t up to the marks and much of it couldn’t be used. Good though about Wagner’s philosophy but on the other hand that...More

You can’t visit Bayreuth without paying homage to Wagner. A fascinating museum even if, like us, you are not fond of his music. The museum does not paper over his anti-Sémitism or the Nazi cult of Wagner.

The original home of the Wagner family plus a comprehensive museum of the works of the composer. Recommended.

It was interesting to see the reconstructed home of Wagner and to try and work out the complicated family tree of the composer. It was difficult to find our way around the new building.

Excellent displays in the new section with the models for all the sets, and costumes for many years worth of productions at the Festspielhaus. A really nice corner for sitting listening to music through headphones, and VERY good headphones too, quite a few will learn...More

The exhibition running when we visited was fascinating - and showed costumes and sets throughout the history of the festival. It was also really interesting to see Winifred Wagner's House (which was gorgeous, Art Deco, with a lovely writing room looking out into the garden...More

The museum is located in the very heart of Bayreuth and it's newly renovated. You can't believe your eyes because of the additional new building to the museum. It was like an invisible building. Museum was wonderful and perfect. A must-see place in Bayreuth.
