As noted, the tours are given in German but they provide you with a written English summary. The rooms are well kept and the Baroque/ Rococo architecture and furniture are the highlight of the tour. Worth seeing if you are in the area.

We visited the Residenze on a Sunday afternoon where we were part of about a dozen people who took the tour. Since our tour was presented in German we were given a pamphlet written in English with a description and diagrams of the rooms that...More

We really enjoyed our visit to the Residenz in Ansbach. We’ve been to lots of these places in Germany, the thing that stood out here was the authenticity. As other reviewers have said, after the last Margrave sold the principality to Prussia in the late...More

You cannot self tour- a tour guide is required. They do English tours only if no German guests are there. The man who was supposed to do our English tour was very nice. The woman who did our mandatory German tour was a nightmare (we...More

We were here close to an hour and the experience was awesome 😎. The tour guide was kind enough to conduct the tour in English as we were the only ones taking it on a Sunday afternoon. The portraits, the porcelain and also the carvings...More

This Residenz is not as fancy as many but it is still worth a day trip. The city of Ansbach is worth a couple hour tour.

Ansbach isn't a big town so the quality of the Residenz is surprising. See the stuffed horses in the basement and the porcelain chandelier in the throne room. Nice exterior too. Tours are available in German, but there is an English language written copy to...More

I stopped at Ansbach on my way to Rothenburg ob der Tauber and it is a beautiful town. The Orangery (of the Residenz) is now the main feature of a wonderful public park. I went on to the Residenz and went on a guided tour...More
