Hiking there through the forest can take quite some time (and efforts), so probably taking a funicular would have been a better idea. The view on the top is definitely nice, but honestly I expected something much more spectacular. In reality most of the view...More

When I arrived in Heidelberg, I wasn't aware of such an amazing place. I got to know about it by chance actually and, on my last day of vacation, I had a walk in the middle of the forest... It definitely left me speechless, as...More

I hiked up to Konigstuhl from the Heidelberg castle. There seemed to be multiple trails leading up which was a little confusing. Google maps estimated it to be a 45 minute walk but it took me at least an hour and half I think. (Also...More

The Königstuhl is Heidelberg's highest mountain, above the fabled castle. You'll find there a launching area for enthusiasts of hang gliding and for extreme mountain biking. There are environmental exhibits, radio and TV transmission towers, and a fairy tale amusement park (Märchenparadis) for children, plus...More

While you ride two inclines to reach here (you could climb up on foot but that is not recommended; some bike up, too), the views are worth the time and investment. There is a small restaurant at the top, as well, though probably best to...More

Take the Bergbahn here for stunning views of Heidelberg and the surrounding cities! Nice little cafe by the tram and lots of hiking to do as well. There’s also a falconry here that does daily shows.

Honestly, the city view from the castle is MUCH nicer than the view from up here. We didn’t spend long here at all, it was more like.. oh, this is it? The funicular was good though. If you got the ticket for both rails, I...More

I visited the King's Throne during my stay at Heidelberg, the view is astounding. If you have time to make a 40 minutes tour, it is a good place to visit, but if you are short of time, the only thing that you can do...More

Great view of all the area from above. Enjoy a cold beverage or hot coffee and a snack from the vista. Walk over and observe the para gliding jumpers from here as well.

We rode the funicular to the Castle and toured it then rode the old funicular the rest of the way up the mountain for stunning views of the entire Neckar Valley. It's an old slow funicular but well worth the experience of the ride itself...More

Hi! I haven’t done the hike myself, but as I was up there I saw a young German lady arriving and she told me it took her about 50 minutes and it’s quite an intense hike. I believe her! It’s quite steep!
