The Heiligenberg is the mountain across the old bridge from the Old Town. There is a Nazi-era open-air auditorium, a ruined monastery from the 12th century, and remains of a Celtic hill ring from the old fort. It's beautiful, but a proper hike from the...More

Could not see this as it is surrounded by scaffolding and plastic. I'm sure it is very nice, but wish we had known about the construction prior to our visit

This gate is an icon in the heart of old Heidelberg. Though the city was declared “open” and was thus not bombed in World War II, the Germans destroyed in when retreating in 1944. All has been rebuilt. The gate is a photographic favorite. Walking...More

A good mix of a historical German town. With modern conveniences. It is a very walkable town with a wide variety of shops and restaurants.

This is a very pretty bridge with nice views from the rive of both riverbanks. Unfortunately the facade was under renovation while I was there, but having seen pictures, I know it’s pretty!

A must see. Beautiful stone carvings and statues. Visited in late October. Very beautiful time to admire the views, and weather was great. Take time after your tour to sit and enjoy a beer in their bar.
