It isn't that difficult, but someone with health issues or balance may have some trouble negotiating the trail. It goes up about 25 floor from the start, and the cobblestones can be a bit uneven. I strongly encourage the effort, though, and definitely a great...More

You have to climb to the very top to really appreciate this walk. The view of the old city from the trail is fantastic! The first part is rather steep, but most of the way as a gentler incline. There are many ruins to discover...More

This is an unique experience. When you get to the highest point, the views are fabulous. You have a great panorama over the city and the Neckar river with it's lovely bridges. It's something I wouldn't miss. The one thing that I have to point...More

We went up in the evening, about 9-9:30 pm. There were lots of youngsters who danced, played on musical instruments or sang. It was interesting to see the city's lights and the river with the vibrant mood.

We wanted to see Heidelberg from this view point but did not realize what a hike it would be. It was a steep climb up to the lookout point but well worth it. After eating all the delicious food in town, this was a great...More

Great view but a long climb to get there from The Old Bridge. Smokers, people with bad knees and the over weight, it's not for you. For the record, I'm none of those. If you just want to climb stars and a lot of them,...More

We spent a week in Heidelberg and were lucky enough to have good weather. We saved the Philosopher's Walk till the last day and it made a great Grand Finale to the holiday. The approach from Alte Brucke is probably the best; you can either...More

At the entrance a steep slope may be a little exhausting ... at some points don't forget to take a short rest on the way and you will get nice view at the left side. Soon after this, a nice picture from...More

When visiting Heidelberg don't miss the wonderful panoramic promenade "Philosophenweg" - it is on the opposite side of the hill with the castle and you will enjoy a splendid view on the Old Town of Heidelberg and the castle. The promade is circa 2 km...More

This walk was a little disappointing but the great view in a few spots made up for it. It gets four star only because it has a two really good spots to take pictures of Heidelberg, which is a beautiful city.

The only thing I would recommend, if doing this in winter, is to make sure you have shoes with good soles and grip. We found the paved areas and stairs a little slippery, especially as it had been raining. It was still worth... More
