Hesse's childhood home has a floor dedicated to his early years in Calw, his works, and life story. I wanted to know more when I saw copies of his paintings in our hotel. Sadly, the museum is mostly about his writings. I hope they consider...More

We arrived at this Museum 40 minutes before the closing time, and listening to the suggestion of the curator, we decided to visit again in the following morning. Next day, an audio device guided us through so many exhibits including Hesse's private letters with pretty...More

If you're a fan of Herman Hesse, this museum is worth the visit. It takes less than an hour to get through it but there is enough there to see.

How do you make a museum out of a writer's body of work? My wife and I are life-long enthusiasts for the works of Hermann Hesse and have read and reread them often. In comparison to the genius he puts to paper, his life is...More

Hermann Hesse is unparalleled. But the magic that surrounds its creation can be experienced up close, when visiting the museum. You even feel it's there, giving tips and advice about life.
