Toulon's navigation monument is right on the otherwise boring waterfront. It is a smart reminder of the French city's maritime root. It also forms an interesting landscape.

This statute is well placed next to the waterfront pointing to Toulon's roots - the harbour and the sea. It is hard to visit the harbour without seeing this statute.

This is a statue occupying a great location on the quayside. It's worth pausing a while to read the information about the works.

You really can't miss this one as it's right on the harbour walk so your eventually walk past this on your wanderings. Worth a quick look.

Right on the Rade. It's a quick photo op or a good landmark to gather at or not get lost. I guess that's what Navigation Genies are for!

Not much to see in Toulon, but it's a nice station at sunrise before it gets busy on the harbor. Recommend heading further in to see the boat sculpture sticking out of the building (Place Vatel). That was an interesting sculpture!

Very nice place with a lot of restaurants on the Toulon harbour. Start point of the guided tour of the natural harbour by boat.

I visited Toulon when the Cunard QVictoria berthed there as part of a Mediterranean cruise. The town is lovely and the port particularly so. Weather was mild considering it was December. This magnificent statue stands proud on the quayside pointing ethereally out to sea ......More
