Great sightseeing place on top of Nice. Unbelievable monuments showing social status and demonstrating power. Go for a walk around this morbid place and go then on the top of the hill, drink a pastis at the buvette and enjoy the great view over Nice....More

The atmosphere is pleasant, gardeners were planting new foliage, we did not linger or take respite. The monastery gardens were in need.

Oh wow. I come across this cemetery quite by accident. I'd already visited the Jewish graveyard whilst up Castle Hill. But after going back up Castle hill on the small train I spied what appeared to be majestic headstones rising from the skyline. I got...More

Having hiked all the way up to Cimiez on foot from the Promenade, it was a real pleasure to leave the armies of family picnics behind in the park, and to reach the sanctuary of the monastery. After a peaceful 15 minutes inside, the stunning...More

This is a recommended place to visit. Take a local bus from center of Nice, about 15 minutes ride. Rose gardens close to the monastery. Bring your own picnic food in May week-ends and join the locals.

As I already wrote n the description of the monastery, I found the grave of a friend I got to know in Venice - Emile Conte Targhetta d'Audiffret, there is also the grave of Henri Matisse - really worth seeing - and the view is...More

The church has some amazing early paintings (some restored we are glad to note) around 14th/15th century?. There’s often concerts there too, worth checking the tourist office or local press for timings. The gardens are best in the spring/summer period as the display of roses...More

I like to visit cemeteries, especially to visit the tombs of artists I admire. In this case, I was interested in seeing the place where Henri Matisse and Raoul Dufy are resting. The cemetery is a calm place, beautiful and flowery, particularly the path towards...More
