We were looking for something to do in Nice to escape the heat of the day for a little while, and the Villa Massena is located conveniently on the Promenade des Anglais. The cost of the museum is generally 10 euros per person, however it's...More

The museum has scented sticks in every room - totally unnecessary. The smell made me feel unwell and gave me a headache. When I complained I was told that the scent was sold in the gift store - "business first". I'd suggest giving it a...More

This Belle Epoque villa and its garden are a peaceful oasis on the busy Promenade des Anglais. The museum entrance is 10 €, but the gardens are free to visit during the opening hours. If you decide to visit the museum, the ground floor is...More

The municipal museums of Nice are rather disappointing, and the entrance fee excessive for what's on view. Villa Massena is the best because of the opulent ground floor. The upper floor presents a social history of Nice but all the explanations are in French. Entrance...More

If I hadn't bought the museum pass for 20€ for a week I probably wouldn't have seen this. I was ok but nothing special.

At €10 this is worth a visit to spend an hour or so looking at the art/furniture in the ground floor rooms and finding out about the history of Nice on the first floor. However the descriptions upstairs about how Nice alternated between Italian &...More

We went there to see the photographic exhibition showing old photos of Nice. It was fantastic. The museum itself is in a beautiful old villa with a lovely garden. Well worth seeing.

When you arrive, as others have said, there is a confusing flow with a ticket office and shop separate to the main entrance. If you are using a multi-museum pass you have to show it at the ticket office to get a token to show...More

The museum building is beautiful but the permanent displays were not very interesting. However the temporary exhibition of historical photos of Nice was excellent. We visited as we had bought a 20 euros 7-day museum pass and this was one of the many places included.

This museum suffers from ludicrously bad signage. All it needs is a clear sign as you enter the main gate to say the ticket office is on the left. This alone would prevent virtually everyone climbing the stairs to the entrance to the villa and...More
