Created in 1989, this one-of-a-kind museum is situated in the symbolic City of Grasse, the cradle of the luxury perfume trade which began in France. Dedicated to one of the most prestigious traditional French businesses, the International Perfume Museum, a public institution awarded by the > label, is devoted to safeguarding and promoting the international heritage of scents, aromas and perfumes. Museum visitors will also discover the unique history of the great perfume Houses and producers. Bearing witness to the international technical, aesthetic, social and cultural history of the tradition of using scents, the museum covers every aspect of the history of fragrance through an anthropological approach including raw materials, manufacture, industry, innovation, business, design, and customs -through very diverse forms- decorative arts, textiles, archaeological finds and unique industrial items

I love history, and I am also a massive fan of perfume and cologne and the history behind it, so honestly this was sort of perfect! It is surprisingly comprehensive and there is such a rich history about Grasse and the industry as a whole....More

This is a very interesting attraction. It takes you through the process of and fascination with perfume through out the ages. However I found many of the rooms very dark to a point where one could hardly see the items on display. Furthermore - several...More

It was perfect attraction, good price. Talks about the history of the perfumes. At the end you can visit the perfumes store.

The first thing to note is the building itself. A clever mix of new and old. The permanent collection is fascinating from the introductory film about the growing of the flowers in Grasse, through the greenhouse of plants and then the exhibits from ancient times...More

Some excellent 'exhibits' with 'hands on' exposure to range of scents, and an enormous collection of scent bottles - most interestingly displayed across time lines, but it could be much better on the development of processes and the science underlying perfume, and the The temporary...More

A lover of perfume and it's history I was very excited to see this museum but was disappointed to see not much more than a collection of bottles and an exhibition on Dior, and a very confusing layout. The free entry to the Fragonard exhibition...More

Really disappointed. Some nice flowers and things to smell. No tours. No explanation to how perfume was developed or how perfumes are made. People who worked in gift shop were more interested in talking with one another than helping prospective customers, i.e., worthless. Parking is...More

Very little of merit. On the plus side it's cool inside and there's a moderately interesting film about flower growing at the start. As for the minuses, difficult to know where to start. Poor signage, poor video clips, technology not working, loss of focus in...More

I believe it changes with the seasons. It's best to check website or check with your hotel concierge. It is a very popular destination so I'd be surprised if hours were limited.
