Visiting the island I did not realise that we would actually be able to enter the fortified monastery, let alone explore it and climb all the way to the top! What an experience. Breathtaking views and the history held in those walls! Not your average...More

If you can, try to climb the stairs to the top of this fortified monastery it's well worth it. Lovely views, but not for the less mobile, it's winding steps around the tower to the top.

A monastery, located on an island, is just a short ferry ride from Cannes. There is a series of trails that traverse the entire island. One leads to the church where the monks worship. It's a beautiful house of worship in its simplicity. The views...More

We went on the day trip and made our way around to the far side and climbed to the top. Surprising to see people up there eating their lunches - but great views none the less.

We are used to leaving a lot of freedom to visitors, as long as it does not disturb the tranquility of the monks and other visitors. Thank you for your remark.

On the far end of the island, the fortress is under restoration. The church and vineyards are lovely and include a small shop which sells local wines and liqueurs produced by the monks.

Thank you for these few lines. For a next visit, we invite you to discover the 4 chapels of the island or the typical "fours à boulets".
