Apparently the Farmer's Market at Place Richelme is open every day - we were there on a Monday. According to the tour guide, this farmer's market has been in existence for hundreds of years. Too bad we were just in town for the morning and...More

I have wracked my brain, reviewed my notes and pictures, consulted sources and guides, and cannot (for the life of me) figure out why there are two different descriptions for this one function at this one location. Place Richelme is only so big. Old Town...More

Tasted MANY spreadable chocolate cremes, white, dark, caramel, all delicious. Other starters such as olive pastes, pistacchio paste. Good breads, fruits and salamis/sausages. Nice to just leisurely walk around and taste.

This was one of my favorite open-air markets that I’ve ever visited in France. The fruit and vegetable market is set up in the Place Richelme; there’s also a flower market in the nearby Place de l’Hotel de Ville. Technically you can buy other types...More

Lovely square behind the Granary building. Lotsa trees. Vendors set up stalls selling fresh produce in the morning. Nice to see the day to day purchases happening. Couple of restaurants in the little area adjoining this square.

Our guided tour through the old town had concluded at the nearby cathedral. We were then given some free time to explore the town by ourselves. Our first stop was at this delightful little market located in a small town square. There was a nice...More

A lovely outdoor market of fresh produce held several times a week in Aix. Most of the fruit and veg had probably been in the ground a few hours before and had only travelled a short distance. Not only fruit and veg, but also cheese,...More

We love farmers markets, and this small weekly market in the heart of the old city was no disappointment. On top of beautiful fresh local produce, one can also find regional products such as soaps, lavender, olive oil, cheese and dried meats.
