Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We wanted to be able to rest somewhere pretty and this was perfect. Grass so no shoes required. Sunny weather, had snacks on 1 of the many picnic tables and watched a kayak school do their lesson. Relaxing. Perfect.

Down at the lake, it’s a great walk, about 3 km around the lake or take the back loop for about 4.5km

Huntly has 2 lakes which are definitely worth a visit. You can walk a circuit of each lake on an easy trail, taking less than an hour. Lake Puketirini is interesting in that it was once an opencast coal mine, now a pristine man made lake to enjoy. BUT ......... Be aware, car thieves operate at the carpark, and we experienced a break in :(

We visited this lake and found it was so nice to swim. I highly recommend it as a great choice of lakes for watersports.

Lovely lake with an easy walk track around it. Bring your own shade or lots of sunblock if it’s hot and sunny.

Really nice spot to go on a nice hot summers day. You can park up at various spots around the lake (for free), eat some kai at the picnic tables, have a swim or take a walk around the lake. Wheelchair accessible. Toilets near car park.

A new wonder for Huntly, This man made lake is just out on the road to Weavers Crossing and is a great looking lake, Very deep and in fact deep diving is practised here. There is a good track for either walking or cycling around. From our place we can walk around in one hour easy, and depending how fast you can cycle is up to you. Toilets are available at the Weavers Crossing end, and there is a boat ramp at the Huntly end. It's also the site to come of the new Huntly Coalfields Museum

A nice way to spent 30 mins walking around the lake. There are divers training in the middle of the lake and provided a talking point for my partner and I. It was really quiet except for the noise coming from the rig, although it did not spoil the walk.
