We had pre-booked tickets to enter at 09:00. This was worthwhile as the queue for those without tickets was very long even at 09:00. We had priority access and were initially able to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the public rooms of the Palace. There...More

It's a little to gaudy for me to fully appreciate the beauty surround this Palace. The history of course is amazing. The gardens are too formal for me...still it's a must-see and so easy to get to by train from Paris.

We were originally booked via Trip Advisor to do an Small group evening at Versailles. Well the car that picked us up took us straight to the Palace as opposed to the Wilson Cafe and when I called the number listed I was bounced around...More

It wasn't hard to imagine life in the French Court when touring the Palace of Versailles. The luxuriousness stretched from floor to ceiling! We got tickets in advance, but still had to wait in a line to get in...nothing horrible though. Although there was a...More

Tickets pre purchased, arrived ten minutes after opening and yet the queues were horrendous. Very empty queue for groups and nobody waiting at a skip the line access, over an hour wait to get into the grounds alone makes this a very frustrating start to...More

You need to be part of a group tour otherwise the queues are far too long to get individual tickets. Little to see in the Palace and that is if you can see over the crowds. However the gardens are really worth the effort and...More

The palace itself is beyond description. The sheer opulence is jaw dropping. Having said that, the CROWDS were far too intense for the visit to have been enjoyable. We stood in line for 2 hours to go through the security check point. And then we...More

The opulence was there for all to see. The palace itself was magnificent with ornate ceilings and large chandeliers. Very grand rooms. The gardens were large, but mostly green with no flowers with lovely fountains. Plus the man-made lake. The drawbacks: Queuing to get in...More

There is no doubt that this is a stunning palace but the overcrowding in the palace rooms detracts from the experience. Tour groups with guides only make it worse. On the other hand the gardens allow you to move around at ease and enjoy the...More

My sister and I spent the whole day (9am-6pm) at the Palace of Versailles! We truly enjoyed this day mostly due to good solid planning and research. I had never been to the palace and our trip to Paris only afforded us one day to...More
