Unfortunately we were in Paris during a pretty rainy period and our walk along the canal was wet, to say the least. But there are beautiful bridges along the way and I'm sure this is a gorgeous spot in the spring and summer time, especially.

First tip, take your own food. The cafes are not where you want to be at Canal St Martin. Where you want to be are on the banks, with the locals -- most of them young groups, and couples, a few families. Go on a...More

Wonderful canal trip across 9 locks lasting 2.5 hours for 22 euros per person - fabulous on a sunny day up on top. We were blessed with fab weather for late October and enjoyed our trip enormously.

We often stay around this area when we visit Paris. Very pleasant to stroll along, look at the ducks, the bridges, the swing road bridges and all the people just sitting around enjoying the ambiance.. like most of Paris, it could be a little cleaner

I never get tired of walking along this canal or crossing the bridges, or watching the locks raise and lower the water levels. This has become a very popular part of town for all of its atmosphere. Take a canal cruise!

We strolled along Canal Saint-Martin so that we could see the locks. Snagged many "Invaders" with our phones - it seems to be a hot spot for them. It was definitely a rougher area of Paris, with the open public urinals all along the canal...More

Canal Saint-Martin
The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point
of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris.
Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and
friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the
bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to
drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days
lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and
concert spaces. Those who are more adventurous may
