I never get tired of walking along this canal or crossing the bridges, or watching the locks raise and lower the water levels. This has become a very popular part of town for all of its atmosphere. Take a canal cruise!

I rather liked it...it's something a little different. I came across a nice food market on the way. It is a pleasant walk and lots of eateries around. Unfortunately I veered down a side street and lost the canal...so my tip is don't do what...More

We strolled along Canal Saint-Martin so that we could see the locks. Snagged many "Invaders" with our phones - it seems to be a hot spot for them. It was definitely a rougher area of Paris, with the open public urinals all along the canal...More

I had read Canal St. Martin was just reborn and bustling with great energy. Well we didn't find it when we got there. We walked in from the beginning of the locks and it starts off in a rough area, with people sleeping in parks,...More

Read the negative reviews about the canal cruise so decided to take a bus to see the area. Weekday morning was quiet. Loved watching the workings of the boats coming through the locks. Very pretty area with plenty of places to eat.

It's a canal. Nice for a walk on a sunny day. Many people enjoyed their lunch or had a picnic there. If you just want to take a stroll and see a part of Paris that you have not seen, it's worth a visit. The...More

Sadly we took time out of our day to come and see this canal since it was recommended in our Lonely Planet Guide. It was very disappointing and not worth the visit. Dull considering all the other places to visit in Paris. We visited last...More

Canal Saint-Martin
The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point
of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris.
Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and
friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the
bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to
drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days
lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and
concert spaces. Those who are more adventurous may
