The Manchester Museum is home to an array of treasures from the natural world and the many cultures it is home to. Highlights include a T.rex and fossils of other pre-historic creatures, ancient Egyptian artefacts and live amphibians and reptiles. You can handle objects from the collection, take part in hands-on activities or enjoy a glass of wine of cup of coffee whilst exploring the latest ideas in science, culture and the arts.

My family visited when our outdoor plans fell victim to the weather. Visiting museums can be hit and miss with an 11 and 8 year old but my lot were more than entertained for around an hour and a half which is no mean feat!...More

I had a few hours to kill yesterday so decided to take a wonder around the museum. It’s free to get in (donation pots are located in the entrance if you want to give something) and it took me around 2 hours to get round...More

The first floor had hand written descriptions of everything that looked like highlighter which I found odd, bits and pieces everywhere, few things not labelled or explained. Good to kill an hour or so

I particularly enjoyed the space devoted to Egyptology in the museum. Of course, being a museum there are loads of stuffed animals and birds. However, there are one or two living animals to be seen: tree frogs for instance. There is a big section on...More

I’ve been here a few times with my daughter on rainy days. It’s so near my house I’d love to say it’s a favourite but it’s just so disappointing. They have a great collection but it’s just not entertaining or interactive for kids. I’ve recently...More

We loved the animals, both the taxidermy section and the vivarium! Also loved the space exhibition, especially the light-up globe! Free entry means it's definitely worth a visit!

There is a dinosaur next to the shop as you walk in and then Stan the t-rex is in the main bit of the museum and is an absolute joy!
