Visited for the upstairs poetry event. Found a warm friendly welcome and lots of great real ales to choose from. A traditional local town pub a hidden gem.

Met friends here for an evening social. Friendly staff make you feel welcome from the start. Good selection of well kept real ale. Decent bar snacks as well. A bit out of the town centre, but well worth the effort to go find!

This would be a lovely Pub (good beer & no TVs etc.) but on 2 of my few visits I've been met with a very cool, borderline unfriendly response. This is the main reason for my few visits.

That is disappointing to hear. If you would like to phone us at head office to speak about this, we would welcome your call.

Have visited a number of times to sample to delicious range of ales that are displayed and rated/priced on the chalkboard in the small lounge. Lovely old traditional pub with plenty of character

We live locally, we love real ale, yet we receive such a frosty reception. Disappointing as we’d love this to be our local. If you don’t like people being in your place then running a pub might not be for you, go to the Fountain.

6 real ales, 2 ciders. Wood fire on, place cosy. Busy front bar, back room quieter. Fireside ale had ran out, disappointed. Cobs available. Dog friendly. Pub is from 1845, & named after its ceramic bricks at the front of the pub. Local road parking...More

Yes...cosy sums this pub up doesn’t it......if you come round the corner on a foggy night and see the windows lit up, it entices you in.

Four of us visited the pub on a Saturday lunchtime. The landlady was hostile and rude towards us before we even ordered a drink. We left (without ordering) and won't be returning. Interestingly, the pub had one customer at the time. I wonder why.
