Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely stunning with the autumn colours. Fairly easy walk with plenty to see.
Disappointed to find the cafe closed and the toilets locked .

I was looking for a circular route for my water loving sprocker, and the Jumbles Reservoir circuit ticked all my boxes, free parking, good cafe, good paths, and of course water. We only did the route around the reservoir and thoroughly enjoyed meeting other dog walkers. As mentioned in other reviews, the mens toilets in the main carpark are not for the faint-hearted. As a keen gardener, l was surprised to see how prolific himalayan balsam has become in the area. It has a lovely flower, but its UKs No1 evasive threat. Will definitely be back to walk the whole circuit.

I would recommend a walk around this park to anyone.
It has a carpark, I'd advise wheel-chair users do a reconnaissance to decide how much of it you feel your wheels can happily cover and for prams/push-chairs too.
It has plenty of good flat areas by the water for strollers, walkers, runners etc. and steeper pathways for those who love to ramble, with or without furry friends who love this place too.
One of my favourite places to walk, just lovely.
It has off-the-beaten quiet pathways winding through wild orchids and wild garlic....great sensory memories and a lovely stony outcrop and trees emerging from a swamp-like area....great Jurassic feel. Super photographic.
It's been too long, looking forward to late spring walks.

Beautiful location, especially seen on a perfect Autumn Sunday. Paths are good and well-maintained. Car park well-laid out. Very good cafe coping well with high demand. This location is clearly very popular with dog walkers, but dogs generally well-behaved.
But why, on a busy sunny Sunday was there only one toilet ( the disabled one ) unlocked? This was in the car park in a small block, which seems to be provided by United Utilities. There are no toilets in the cafe. Predictably it proved insufficient and was malfunctioning and very dirty by the end of the afternoon. The general public really have a right to expect better than this, not least that it reduces accessibility for disabled visitors.

Nice place for a leisurely walk, not too intense, quite flat with some hilly, steps to deal with. Great surroundings, picturesque. Nice if you like photography. Ideal for a nice walk in most weathers really, I have been here when its snowed, rainy and muddy and when its sunny - enjoyed it every time. Good parking available locally too.

Didn't know this local gem existed. Lovely 2-3 hour walk, recommended for people who don't mind dogs (you will encounter ALL THE DOGS on this walk).
Despite the narrow paths, most of the walk offers quiet and you never feel like you're queueing. The ground is level and easy to walk on. Wonderful for a cool, sunny day out.

A lovely walk around Jumbles reservoir, good quality paths with a short section along a quiet lane, safe to let well behaved dogs off, ducks and geese to feed. A particularly angry Canada Goose kept chasing us for our sandwiches!!!!
Some steep bits but can be negotiated with a buggy but some sections of steps would need a second pair of hands.
Very scenic and good to have on the doorstep.
The only negatives. Worlds smallest car parking spaces (definitely none standard though I didn't get my tape measure out!) the cafe and toilets were shut but I assume this is due to the pandemic (April '21 visit) parking was free though the pay and display machine was bagged over

Lovey scenic walk with clear path to follow round. Parking available at several locations. Fairly flat route so requires low effort.

Hi, I was just wondering if anybody had more information on the nearby Walves Reservoir ? I'm from Bolton myself and noticed when cycling past on sunny days it looks surprisingly picturesque from certain angles but I also notice the only entrance is marked Strictly Private Fishing - No Public Access. I'm not looking to fish, I just wanna get some pictures from the edges of the reservoir. If I attempted this am I likely to encounter any difficulties?

Can you take a buggy round the reservoir? Thanks

Wheelchair accessible?

Bury, UK22 contributions
When you go down the access lane the main car park is on the left. There is a small car park on the right for disabled parking which is front of the cafe. There is also a viewing area there, and a path which isn’t great but depending on the wheelchair and assistance can be followed for a short distance. There is no access from the main car park to the right as it’s steps and /or a steep path.

Does anyone know if there is a regular bus service (coming/going central Bolton) stopping here? Am hoping to visit with my young child but haven't had much luck searching online.

I believe a skeleton bus service passes the top of the jumbles.
You could ring Bury / Bolton bus station for details of buses
Good luck

Is the walk from the main car park through to Vale Street suitable for a pram?

I wouldn't say much of it is suitable for a Pram, very uneven.
